Network administrators and other ICT professionals who wish to gain insight in the possibilities and operation and of IPv6.

Basic knowledge of networks and IPv4 is required.

After attending this course, participants will have a clear and solid understanding of the principles of the IPv6 protocol.

Classroom training with practical exercises.

This course presents the basic principles of IPv6. This course can be used as an introduction to more in-depth courses concerning specific IPv6 topics.

We start by explaining the need for IPv6 and why IPv4 will be inadequate as a foundation for the next-generation internet.

One of the major differences between IPv6 and IPv4 is the extended address space. As a result we spend an important amount of time on the logic and understanding of this new address scheme.

Once the new address scheme is fully comprehensed, the focus shifts to the real configuration of IPv6: stateless/stateful addressing, router configuration, Neigbor Discovery Protocol and name resolution.

Finally, this courses introduces the means of migration from IPv4 to IPv6 and how to configure the co-existence. But as mentioned, we merely introduces the basic concepts of ISATAP, Teredo, 6to4,...

During the course, IPv6 will be configured and tested in a Windows Server 2008 environment. The classroom will be seperated in three differen IPv6 networks. Routing and name resolution has to been configured between the three distinct networks
