Audience

This courseis intended for database professionals who need to fulfill a BusinessIntelligence Developer role to create analysis and reporting solutions. Primaryresponsibilities include:

  • Implementinganalytical data models, such as OLAP cubes.
  • Implementingreports, and managing report delivery.
  • Creatingbusiness performance dashboards.
  • Supporting data mining and predictive analysis.

Prerequisites

Thiscourse requires that you meet the following prerequisites:

  • At least 2 years’experience of working with relational databases, including:
    • Designing anormalized database.
    • Creating tablesand relationships.
    • Querying withTransact-SQL.
    • Some basicknowledge of data warehouse schema topology (including star and snowflakeschemas).
    • Some exposure tobasic programming constructs (such as looping and branching).
    • An awareness of key business priorities such asrevenue, profitability, and financial accounting is desirable.

Description

This five-day instructor-led course teaches students how to design and implement a BI infrastructure for enterprise data models and reports. The course discusses design, installation, and operations of a BI platform, including Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services, SQL Server Reporting Services, and Microsoft SharePoint Server.

Module 1: Introduction to Business Intelligence and Data Modeling

As a SQL Server database professional, you may be required to participate in, or perhaps even lead, a project with the aim of implementing an effective enterprise BI solution.
