Audience

This course is designed for system administrators ans systems engineers who are responsible for the integration, administration and management of a vSphere environment.

Prerequisites

A working knowledge of Microsoft Windows. Basic knowledge of Linux is advised.

Objectives

This hands-on training will make you understand the structure of vSphere. You will install and configure you own vSphere environment. you will be able to install, manage and troubleshoot virtual machines and hosts.

Methods

Online or on-site instructor-led classroom training with exercises. Each pair of student disposes of an ESXi host to make the exercises.

Description

This course will give you the insight and knowledge to independently setup and maintain a complete vSphere environment. Starting from the installation and configuration of the ESXi host and vCenter server, right up to the management of virtual machines in a highly available environment. Every step of the course is demonstrated and tested in a classroom environment where ESXi hosts are connected to a central iSCSI storage. Every configuration during the course is done using the vSphere (web) client, PowerShell and/or the VMware Management Assistant.

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

Install and configure ESXi Server with multiple guest virtual machines

Create VMware virtual machines in a networked environment and set their priorities for accessing resources

Ensure high availability of the virtual machines

Monitor the state of the system and virtual machines

Troubleshoot ESXi in a systematic manner

This course is not a VMware authorized course and therefore not valid towards the VMware Certified Professional (VCP) exam.
